I was born in southern Mexico City. I got interested in photography at a young age. I grew up in a country constantly convulsed by violence. I studied a Bachelor’s in Political Science at the Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM), where I studied social and political topics, hence, I felt attracted to photojournalism. After an investigation residence in Argentina, I bought my first camera.
A little after my grandmother died I suffered an accident that almost takes away my life. That stage of the process was, undoubtedly, the most complicated. Without thinking it twice, I turned to photography again and sought to express my process and emotions by self-portraying.
I felt empowered by it, since the energy I invested allowed me to look upon my own representation. I felt I could turn what was terrible in something worthy through the use of light. After my accident I felt the need to tell also the story of other survivors.
