Damion Berger (b. London 1978) is a British photographer whose work contemplates the elusive nature of time and space. Operating between abstraction and conceptualism, his unorthodox approach to traditional analogue process results in photographic ‘recordings’ evoking layered charcoal and line-drawings that challenge our perception of time through the alchemic nature of the medium. Using a large-format camera and frequently employing very long-exposure, instead of playing on the camera’s inate ability to freeze the moment, Berger’s photographs plot an extended passage of time to reveal an otherwise hidden architecture. Born in London, he lives and works in New York and France. He holds a B.F.A. from Parsons The New School of Design in New York
