Ercin Erturk was born in 1988 in Sinop, Turkey.
He studied journalism at Gazi University and has been working as a staff photojournalist at Anadolu Agency since 2011 in Ankara.
He received awards in 2016 and 2018 from the Photojournalists Association of Turkey (TFMD), the most prestigious photography association in his country.
In 2022, he was awarded third place in the sports category at the International Andrey Stenin Press Photography Competition in Russia.
Months later, he received the Award of Excellence in the Recreational & Traditional Sports category at the POY Asia 2023 Competition, and honorable mentions at the Siena Drone Photo Awards 2023, and the World Sports Photography Awards 2023. He ranked second in The City and The Urbanization Process category at the 2023 Transversalidades Photography Competition.
In 2024, Ercin Erturk got first place in the Single Images category at the Lens Culture Portrait Awards. He ranked third in the Photo Sport Action category at AIPS Sport Media Awards, and was a finalist for two separate categories, General News and Spot News at POY Asia Awards.
Ercin Erturk’s work is mainly focused on politics, conflict, and disaster. He is also personally interested in sports photography and has developed his skills in drone photography since 2019.
