About Gui Christ

Gui Christ is a Brazilian visual artist known for his contemporary photography of peripheral communities and cultures in Brazil. His work has gained international acclaim, being featured in top news outlets such as Time Magazine, National Geographic, El País, the Washington Post and others.

His two published photobooks have received numerous awards. "Marrocos," recognized among the best Latin American photobooks of 2016, documents life in the largest Brazilian squat. The second photobook, "Fissura," explores the world’s largest street drug market and has attracted significant international attention, earning selection for various festivals and magazine reviews.

Gui has also received the RainForest Pulitzer Center Grant and the National Geographic Explorer Grant for his ongoing projects. His work has been exhibited at prominent festivals such as Photoville (USA), Indian Photofest (India), FotoRio (Brazil), and PhotoEspaña (Spain). It has garnered recognition at POY-Latam, the leading photojournalism award in Latin America. Notably, his ongoing project M'kumba was one of 40 selected to represent Latin America at the Photo Vogue Festival (Italy).
