About Jiatong Lu

Jiatong Lu is a mixed-media artist and photographer based in New York. Born in 1988, she grew up in Northwest China and graduated with an MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts. Her work primarily centers on experiences of trauma and relationships within families, delving deeply into the connections between individual experiences, societal culture, and social policies. Jiatong's work has been selected for the 2024 Three Shadows Photography Award, the 5th Chelsea International Photography Competition, and has been exhibited at the Photo Brussels Festival 2024, Belgium; The Charta Festival, Italy; The 3rd Beijing International Photography Biennial, China; Candela Gallery, Richmond, USA; Filter Space, Chicago, USA; Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, New York, USA, and others. She has received awards, including a winner of the LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2024, an Annual Winner from the 2023 Tuchong OPENSEE Photography Awards, an Honorable Mention from the 2023 Tokyo International Foto Awards and the New York Center for Photographic Art (2022), and a 2019 NYFA Artist Fellowship in Photography from The New York Foundation for the Arts.
