Born in 1989 in Paris, France.
A graduate of the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Julie Joubert embraces social themes to highlight those who are continually side-lined. Her photographs are almost documentary and invite the viewer to change their perception of these individuals through the sublimation of their faces and bodies. While maintaining a certain distance, she tries to highlight the authenticity and uniqueness of her subjects.
Her work has been presented in several exhibitions in Europe: The Galerie du Jour agnès b. (Paris), the General Stores (Pantin), the Galerie Houg (Paris), the Julio Artist - run Space gallery (Paris), the Photo Doc. fair (Paris), the MAP Photo festival (Toulouse), the Discovery Award (Portugal), the Imago Lisboa festival (Portugal), the Image Satellite festival (Nice), the Boutographies festival (Montpellier) and the Incadaqués festival (Spain).
She is the winner of several prize: the Passepartout Photo Prize (2022), the Grand Prix MAP photo Toulouse (2022), the Jury’s Prize of the Festival Les Boutographies (2021), the Caisse d’Epargne’s Prize (2020). She is also the finalist of the first edition of the Caritas Social Photo Award 2020 presided by agnès b. and of the Mentor Prize 2021 and 2022. Her first book has been published in december 2021 by KAHL Editions.
She currently lives and works in Montreuil.
