About Kate Geraghty

Kate Geraghty is an Australian photographer and started her photojournalism career in 1997 and joined The Sydney Morning Herald in 2002 where she continues to work.
She has covered many world events including the Bali Bombings, the 2003 invasion of Iraq; covered stories in Afghanistan; war in Lebanon, the 2004 tsunami; Donbas War, the Refugee Crisis in Europe, the Gaza Flotilla, the drug wars in the Philippines, the liberation of Mosul, the plight of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, the aftermath of the Kasai war in the DRC, the aftermath of the fall of the self proclaimed Islamic State in North East Syria, the impact of COVID-19 in Australia and most recently documenting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
