About kimio yajima

Born in Tokyo in 1949, Kimio Yajima graduated from the Photography Department of Nihon University College of Art in 1972.

He worked in the advertising department of POLA Cosmetics until February 1979. After becoming independent, he mainly engaged in advertising photography.

After his children came of age and he was able to enjoy photography as a hobby rather than a job, he moved into the field of self-expression, which was not possible with professional photography where planning, design, and photography are clearly separated. The subjects of his work come from his own thoughts and ideas, which are triggered and materialized from the objects and phenomena around him. In addition, his compositions are not digital compositions constructed on a digital screen, but rather are based on the method of handling photographic prints in real space.
