Ludovica De Santis was born in Rome in May 1991. She began to cultivate a love for photography and cinema at an early age. She studied in Rome and moved to Paris in 2011. She graduated in Art History with a specialization in film criticism at the Sorbonne University. In the meantime she works as photography assistant for some film productions and studios. She delved into the world of analog photography and embarked on a path that encompassed various photographic approaches, from documentary to the fine art one. Ludovica De Santis's work has been exhibited in Paris, Berlin, London, Dublin Budapest, Rome, Turin, Marseille, and Zurich, and has been valued by many magazines in the field. In 2021, she participated as a juror in the Biennale di Fotografia Femminile in Mantua, and in 2022, she won the first prize for digital manipulation techniques at the Julia Margaret Cameron Foundation. In 2022 her series "Untitled" has been exhibited in Locarno (La Rada), Berlin (Safelight Berlin & Safelight Paper), Munich (Der Grief), and Amsterdam (Haute Photographie with Gup Magazine). Later she published her first photobook "Zagriz," with the independent publishing house Altana. In 2024 her latest fine art series “Onironautica” won the first prize of the Art Awards held by LensCulture, has been selected for the Autograph’s Exhibition “Becoming Visible” 2024 and has been shortlisted for the Gomma Grant 2023. Her series Onironautica will be part of the main program of the Athens Photography Festival.
