Sanni Saarinen (born in 1979) is a documentary photographer and writer based close to Helsinki in Espoo, Finland. She is interested in questions of identity, community, and belonging in world where people migrate all the time more. She works with societal projects, but also with more personal projects using auto-fictional elements.
She has a Masters Degree in Comparative Religions from the University of Turku and has studied photography in international photography school Efti in Madrid, Spain. Saarinen has worked years as freelance journalist and photographer for the Finnish media, but concentrates currently on her long-term documentary photographic projects. Currently she studies Master’s Program of Photography in Aalto University.
She has had private exhibition in Turku Kunsthalle and has participated in group exhibitions such as Open Walls in Galerie Huit Arles as part of official selection of Rencontres d’Arles in 2019 and The Best of Lens Culture in Klompching Gallery, New York, in 2018. Lens Culture awarded Saarinen as one of the Emerging Talents of 2018.
