Documentary photographer from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After studying linguistics at Leiden University in the 1990s, I embarked on a course at the University of Applied Photography in Amsterdam, where I graduated with distinction in 2013. I published several books: 'Bekeerd' about conversion to Islam, 'Veiled' about Western women who choose to wear a face veil. 'Tot de dood ons scheidt' (Till death do us part) about the marriages that took place in the Dutch transit camp Westerbork.
I won a Silver Camera award in the portraits category (award in Dutch photojournalism), was nominated for the SO Awards (for creative photography), selected for the New Dutch Photography Talent 2017, won the International Photo Festival Leiden and was a finalist in the LensCulture Black & White Award.
