Born in 1980, Seth Adrián Aldana Maldonado grew up in the rural town of Linares in Nuevo Leon, northern Mexico, later moving to the Industrial capital of Monterrey. In 2005, he embarked on his journey as a self-taught photographer and was soon invited to cover the Zapatista liberation fighter Comandante Marcos’ visit to Seth’s hometown during “la Otra Campaña”. The other campaign was set out by the Zapatista Army to fight for the recognition, protection and human rights of indigenous communities in Mexico. In 2006, Seth participated as still photographer for the short film, “La Visita”, a finalist in the Monterrey International Film Festival. From 2010 to 2015, he worked in photography for advertising with a diverse range of subjects and media.
In 2016, Seth took a workshop with the artist, Aristeo Jimenez and then travelled to the USA and Canada, Colombia, Cuba and Spain, taking photographs of the people and cultures that he came across on his travels.
