Shaghayegh Moradiannejad, an Iranian photographer who has lived in Canada for the last three years, is a social documentary photographer who is fond of narrating women's stories. She started to be a storyteller with women in Afghanistan. The story of women who carry the heavy and severe burden of war on their shoulders.
She attempts to record the long-term effects of war on women and children. This effort was started in Iran and Afghanistan and she intends to continue it in other areas of the world.
She is from Iran and she understands with all of her heart the meaning of woman in the Middle East is an unpleasant and complicated story where men are in the position of power. As a photographer, being a woman is beyond the geographical borders to her. All over the world, all the women have one common language: WOMAN!
Her last project is about Kurdish women who lived in Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syrian Arab Republic. they hold rank one of self-immolation in the world.
