Tara Fallaux is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. She is an award winning photographer and filmmaker, and she explores the poetic and philosophical language inherent in multimedia layered stories.Tara has always alternated her photography and film.
“My work is mainly about the human psyche and how we deal with the so-called 'manufacturability' of life. Many of my long-term projects focus on society; loneliness, the presence and absence of love, loss and (non) verbal (mis)communication. I like strong visual stories that are emotionally motivated. My projects generally take the form of an image-based, photographic and cinematic investigation into those elusive aspects of consciousness, creating poetic stories that reflect different ways of perceiving reality. My stories are always at the intersection of documentary, imagination and visual art.”
Tara’s work has been shown internationally at festivals and museums, a.o. Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Galerie Caroline O’Breen, Hot Docs Toronto, Rencontres d’Arles, IDFA, Fotofestival Naarden, Guernsey Photography Festival, Technische Sammlungen Museum Dresden, NYC Independent Film Festival, Lincoln Center for the Arts, The Melkweg Gallery, The Dutch National Portrait Studio and BIG ART Amsterdam.
