Yuanli Fang was born in Sichuan in 1997. She received her BA from Communication University of China and BFA from New York Institute of Technology. Fang is an image maker and photo editor, with a practice based on personal narratives, challenging opinions on self-identity and politics.
Her recent project "Mercy Mountain" explore intimacy and memory in family. Through the manipulation of domestic scenes and examining the relationship between text and images, the photo sequence presents the subtle tension in family life, the complexity of collective experience and the loose self-consciousness implied in it.
Fang’s photographs and related installation were exhibited in Three Shadows Photography Art Center (Beijing). Her works are also included in the publication, which will be exposed soon.
